Best practice to provide metadata is to use a metadata standard (like ABCD, DarwinCore, Lido etc.) but there are cases where this is not possible or a first quick solution to add metadata to a digital object is needed. For these purposes OpenUp! provides you an Excel-Template as additional option for a data ingest from your collections to Europeana. This Excel sheet is aimed at cultural heritage institutions with rather small datasets (eg. several 3D objects), because the sheet has to be filled in manually. The Data Ingest via Excel-Template is suited for you if one ore more of the following points apply to you:
- you are just starting to build an online collection (quick start)
- your data is not yet available in a specific metadata standard at your institution (interim solution)
- you just want to pass a handful of records to Europeana (mini dataset)
