In the current project year 2025/2026, we focused on three different plants and animals that play an important role in human’s everday life and the world’s ecosystem. In that context, we created three different blog texts, that can be found on OpenUp! and Europeana.
In the course of the research workflow, we created thematic image and text galleries for the blog texts that can now be viewed on Europeana, too.
Moss: Hidden pioneers and climate saviours with healing powers

Mosses are a species that is often underestimated in the plant world and have long been neglected by science. Yet they have existed for millions of years and play an important role in human history – art, culture, housing, construction and health.
This gallery contains research material for the same-named blog post. It collects image and text materials about mosses, their different species and application fields.

Corn: a versatile plant with a long history
The history of corn and its domestication closely mirrors human progress and cultural development. As a significant agricultural achievement, corn still holds secrets and offers new opportunities.
This gallery contains research material for the same-named blog post. It collects images and texts of historical and documentational value concerning the development of corn/maize and its distribution around the world.
